UNIVERSITY RUGBY AWARDS 2021/22
Rugby is much more than just a game, and the annual University Rugby Awards are the opportunity to reward and recognise the individuals and clubs that give so much behind the scenes to grow and develop university rugby on and off the pitch, bringing the RFU core values to life.

Rugby for all - EDI award
D E S C R I P T I O N
To recognise a club, player or coach that has taken positive action to improve diversity and inclusion in the university game.
This award is intended to highlight the positive contribution of university rugby to increasing equality, diversity and inclusion in the game. Nominations are sought for individuals, teams or clubs that have actively taken steps to be inclusive and/or improve their diversity and equality practices.

Coach of the year
D E S C R I P T I O N
To celebrate a coach or coaching team that have benefitted their members wellbeing and welfare or has demonstrated innovative and creative approaches to the game during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This nomination may be for staff (i.e. paid) or volunteer coaches (who may be students or external to the university) either individually or recognising a coaching team that have worked together. It is intended to specifically recognise the vital role that coaches have played in supporting students ‘off the pitch’ throughout the season, and the creative and innovative ways in which they have achieved this.

Student Leadership

To celebrate a University student or committee who made an outstanding contribution to the game through their commitment and endeavours in leading through rugby in their university.
This nomination is intended for those students that have either individually or as a committee, made an outstanding contribution to the game of rugby

Student Volunteer of the year (unsung Hero)

To celebrate the unsung hero student volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the game through their volunteering.
This nomination is intended for those students that have volunteered to support their club, teammates, or the wider student rugby community through volunteering their time.

Tom Miller Award for Social Impact
D E S C R I P T I O N
To recognise a club or student who has demonstrated considerable impact through charitable and awareness raising endeavours.
This award has been created to recognise and support the legacy of Tom Miller who through his advocacy for the Oddballs charity raised awareness and significantly impacted both the university and wider rugby community.
Nominations are sought for clubs or individuals who have demonstrated considerable impact through fund and awareness raising. It should be noted it is not simply about raising the most money!

A W A R D
Vaughan Parry Williams Award for outstanding contribution to student rugby
D E S C R I P T I O N
To recognise someone who has changed the game through their outstanding contribution to university rugby.
This special award is intended for an individual, who through their role or volunteering has made a outstanding contribution to administering, fostering, encouraging and extending delivery or any other aspect of university rugby across their institution and the wider University sector.
This is not an annual award, but will be presented when the awarding panel feel there is a nomination of outstanding merit.
