England Students dominate UKAF on their long awaited return

Tries from Amy Dale, Charlie Mann’s, Zoe Dare, Dani Preece and Eloise Harris, as well as a hat-trick from Grace White, and four from Ellen Scantlebury, saw the England Students Women’s team secure a 74-22 victory over the UKAF Women's Rugby team in their first game back for 20 years.

The Students came out of the blocks firing with a score on the board early courtesy of winger White following a nice set move from the lineout.

UKAF responded with pressure in Students’ red zone but excellent defensive work repelled their efforts to keep them at bay.

Try two for the Students came courtesy of the over England winger Scantlebury who scored her first following some nice offloading play and a finish in the corner.

It was two for Scantelbury in as many minutes as the Students continued their attacking form with well worked hands to the edge and another easy finish for the winger.

The hat-trick was on the cards, and the electric winger was in full flow, finishing her third in the same corner yet again.

But UKAF were determined to get a grip on the game and at the half-hour mark had their first try from Daisy Aspinall out wide.

It was an afternoon for the wingers with White finishing the half with a solo stunner making the line break, leaving the defenders for dust and finishing under the posts.

The Students’ dominance continued right from the first whistle of the second half, with finally a try from one of the forwards as Dale crashed over at the back of a rolling maul.

But the back were the ones having all the fun! Preece, White and Scantlebury all scoring in ultra quick succession taking the lead to beyond 50 points.

UKAF hit back with a try of their own with pressure in the red zone, and Orla Proctor went over.

In classic fashion, the Students hit back with Harris going over at the back of the rolling maul.

It was all flash from the England Students with Preece showing her dancing feet and got the offload away to  Dare who walked another in for the students.

The scores didn’t stop, even into the final ten minutes, with two more from each side, with Manns breaking the line and dotting down for the final play of the game.
