University Rugby Summit

England Rugby are pleased to invite Directors of Sport to the ‘University Rugby Summit’ in Spring 2026.

On the 17th of March 2026 at the Allianz Stadium, with members of the RFU Executive, we will share the RFU's Plan 2030 and what it means for universities and begin to co-create with universities a long-term vision for Rugby Union in this important sector.

University rugby union remains a strong component of the community game, with over 10,000 male and 5,000 female participants. Committed investment of over £1.140m over 4 years continues to bring new players into the game, especially women, on campus and to develop playing opportunities that keep players playing longer through university and into community clubs. Alongside this, the top level of University Rugby Union (BUCS Super Rugby and the Premiership) continue to offer key player and coach/official development opportunities.

This event builds on the high level of engagement seen from the sector in early 2025, and aligns with the launch of Plan 2030. Topics for discussion will include facilities, participation and performance agendas as identified through a sector working group with a number of colleagues from a range of institutions.
