New tackle height regulations introduced for 2023/24 season

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

In tandem with the Rugby Football Union, IRFU, SRU and WRU there will be a lowering of the tackle height in Rugby Union which will apply to all teams and matches in the university sector along with the rest of the community game for the 2023-24 season (inclusive of BUCS Super Rugby and the Women’s National League).

The new changes take effect in England from July 1 2023, with all current details and resources found on the RFU Tackle Height Hub

Cross-boarder information is further detailed in the RFU Tackle Height Hub. There is also a wealth of detailed support information available on the IRFU, SRU and WRU websites. Any team due to play in another Union is strongly advised to please visit this well in advance of travelling.
