Welcome to your latest University Rugby Update!
Whether you're leading a student club, supporting players behind the scenes, or helping shape the future of university rugby, this is your space. Together, the RFU and SRFU are here to keep you in the loop with the latest tools, insights, opportunities, and offers designed to support everyone involved in the university rugby community. Let’s continue to grow the game, celebrate successes, and make rugby even more impactful across campuses.

This month's spotlight is the Hairy Hikers - five University of Nottingham Students who walked to Twickenham to raise money for Movember.
As a reminder, it is an RFU Regulation that all players, in all formats of the game, are required to register annually to play rugby within RFU/ SRFU member clubs.
In addition, the BUCS Rugby Union sets out specific registration requirements that can be accessed here. For further support for both players and administrators, please check out our YouTube channel. Please note that BUCS will be advised of institutions, without sufficient registered players to fulfil their BUCS fixtures, by the end of term one.
Don't let the wet weather impact training or matches over the winter - book an AGP near you!
As part of the member pledges we made earlier this year, we committed to enhancing engagement opportunities with our member clubs.
We are hosting Local Engagement Sessions in January that will focus on connecting clubs with RFU staff, working both regionally and nationally. They will focus on pratical support around current, topical issues. If you'd like to attend, please register your interest below.
The University Kitbag provides information and resoruces to support rugby at your insitution/ club.
Thank you to the 34 clubs that applied for the PLAY Grant - all clubs have been notified of the SRFU Grant Panels decision.
Wishing everyone a restful and festive winter break and see you in 2026!
